This project called for the decontamination and dismantling of 32, 50,000 Litre oil storage tanks complete with associated pipework, gantries and plant rooms.

With the site located adjacent o the River Forth, Safedem undertook a detailed study of the site, and, in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency, designed failsafe containment systems for the containments present on site.

Following the decontamination, permits to work, allowed Safedem to mechanically dismantle the steel tanks utilising an 85 tonne excavator equipped with a specially designed tank ripper tooth, manufactured specifically for this project.

The power of the base excavator and design of the attachment allowed Safedem to process the recyclable tank plate in a safe and efficient manner.
